Change 4 Life

At McKenzie Health System, we want to help our community make healthy changes to their lifestyle which can have a positive impact on both the length and quality of life. Making wise choices when it comes to lifestyle is one of the best defenses against disease; however, the benefits do not stop there. Those healthy choices can also improve the quality of your life. It’s time to take control of your health and we are here to help!

Get Active. Individuals who exercise regularly are less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other chronic conditions. Consistent physical activity has also been linked to a better mental state, significantly decreasing the risk of depression and anxiety. In addition, being in shape allows you to participate and enjoy your life.

Challenge Yourself. New experiences can be uncomfortable at first, but embracing the unknown can improve mental sharpness and self-confidence.

Eat Right, Drink Water. A well-rounded diet representing all major food groups (fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, protein, probiotics and prebiotics) can nourish the body while lowering the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, digestive disorders, depression/anxiety and obesity. Drinking at least 64-80 ounces of water daily carries equal importance.

Build Relationships. Not only does socializing boost happiness, it can strengthen the immune system and decrease the likelihood of dementia. A great way to form relationships is to get involved in community groups or join a club that focuses on specific areas of interest.
Find YOUR Balance. Prioritizing time improves physical and mental wellness. Having a healthy balance of work, family, friends and alone time on a regular basis has the potential to increase satisfaction in all facets of life.

PARTNER WITH a Doctor. When individuals have a good relationship with their family care provider, it becomes easier to assess the risk of health issues, manage existing conditions and detect unidentified symptoms.
