McKenzie Health System Offers Free “A Matter of Balance” Program for Seniors

McKenzie Health System, in partnership with Michigan State University Extension, is offering “A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls,” a free program designed to help older adults reduce their fear of falling, improve strength and balance, and continue doing the activities they enjoy most.
Many older adults begin limiting everyday activities because they are worried about falling. “A Matter of Balance” is an evidence-based, award-winning program that helps participants gain confidence through practical strategies, group discussion, and gentle exercises focused on improving balance and strength.
Throughout the eight-session course, participants will learn practical strategies to help view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, reduce fall risks at home, and improve strength and balance through exercise.
The program is ideal for anyone concerned about falls, interested in improving balance and flexibility, or who has experienced a fall in the past. The course is free for adults age 60 and older.
Sessions will be held weekly on Tuesdays from June 23 through August 11, 2026, with two convenient locations available:
Sandusky Location 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Countryside Free Methodist Church - 912 Sanilac Road, Sandusky
Croswell/Lexington Location 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Croswell Wesleyan Church - 200 Peck Road, Croswell
Funding for this program is generously provided by Region VII Area Agency on Aging.
