RN- Day Shift Manager (FT)

Department: Nursing

Status: Full Time Position. Requires weekend and holiday rotation.

Hours: Primarily Day Shift. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications/Position Requirements:

  1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  2. Current Michigan Board of Nursing license as a Registered Nurse with required renewals
  3. Previous experience in nursing leadership/supervision preferred.
  4. A minimum of one year supervisory experience such as charge nurse, relief charge nurse, supervisor, relief supervisor or head nurse is desirable.
  5. Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing.
  6. BLS Certification required within 3 months of hire and recertification as required
  7. ACLS, TNCC, required within 1 year of hire and recertification as required
  8. Basic Arrhythmia Course required.
  9. 1-2 years clinical nursing experience in triage, emergency, trauma care, required.
  10. Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians and all other support hospital & external personnel
  11. Ability to function in a leadership position by serving as a resource person and assuming leadership role in emergency/crisis situation, delegating specific tasks to appropriately trained personnel.
  12. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective, serving on department/hospital committees, integrating population health needs, and participating in quality improvement practices.
  13. Influence the direction of professional nursing practice by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude.
  14. Demonstrates leadership and technical skills essential to job.
  15. Demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful situation while maintaining composure and excellence in the delivery of nursing services.
  16. Demonstrates appreciation and desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing the community and patients optimal care and excellent service.

Job summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services, the Nursing Department Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the nursing care administered within their assigned shift and jail services; to meet patient care needs, and provide clients and physicians optimal service in a cost effective manner.
