Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, RDMS, RVT, RDCS (ROC)

Department: Diagnostic Imaging

Hours: Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy. Call Time may be required.

Status: Relief on Call (ROC)

Qualifications/Position Requirements:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.)
  • Registered as a vascular sonographer, RVT.
  • Registered Echocardiographer, RDCS.
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory ultrasound images following accepted standards/procedures.
  • Able to provide quality diagnostic services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, while performing diagnostic imaging through patient education, appropriate skill, and knowledge
  • Demonstrates ability to perform equipment manipulation and function for the purpose of producing quality diagnostic images.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians, and all other hospital support personnel.
  • Ability to communicate in speech, writing, and reading of English language.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks and maintain composure during stressful times.
  • Ability to handle various office equipment and ultrasound equipment.

Role/Position Definition: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs Ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and ultrasound diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or providers regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. Frequent, daily contacts with patients and their families; Frequent contact with other hospital employees, and physicians.
