Inpatient Care

Whether you receive inpatient or outpatient care, you are the most important person at McKenzie. Your care is personal, because we see you not as a collection of symptoms or a disease, but as a member of our community and our goal is to assist you to improve your health.

As a patient in the hospital, you will be respected and the care you receive will be delivered with compassion. The entire medical team at McKenzie Health System is here for one purpose – to do everything possible to aid in your successful recovery. We are staffed with an elite group of physicians who are onsite 24/7 to provide emergency care as well as inpatient care. This hospitalist service allows your primary care physician to focus on your needs and collaborate with the hospitalist physician to provide you with the highest quality of care.

The hospitalist will manage all of your care while you are an inpatient and will ensure that your primary care physician receives information regarding your hospital stay. If your care requires additional management, our telehealth intensivist providers can be consulted to work with you, your hospitalist, and your care team to provide specialized care close to home.

Nurse Practitioner Abigail Knox supports the inpatient and Swing Bed programs by working closely with the hospitalist team to ensure seamless, coordinated care for patients. She rounds daily, assists with admissions and discharges, and participates in weekly care conferences to keep care plans on track. Abigail also assists in the Emergency Department during high census times to help expedite care and transitions. Her presence strengthens continuity, timeliness, and communication across departments—enhancing the overall quality and efficiency of care at McKenzie Health System.

Inpatient care may include:

  • Medical/surgical care
  • Observation care
  • Pediatric care
  • Monitored bed/telemetry services
  • Transitional/swing bed services

All tests, X-Rays and treatments are ordered by your doctors and you have a right to discuss these with your doctor.

Equum Medical – Acute Care Telehealth

McKenzie Health System has taken steps to bring specialty care to the hospital campus. What does this mean for the community? It means, in more cases, patients can remain close to family and friends while they receive treatment and recover. This is being done through a partnership with Equum Medical.

Equum Medical's Multi-Specialty Telehealth service provides intensivists who are board-certified physicians trained to care for critically ill patients and cardiologists to provide assessment, interventions, and diagnositic services. Their mission is to deliver comprehensive remote consultative healthcare across various medical subspecialties, enhancing access to specialized care, optimizing resource utilization, and reducing unnecessary transfers and care delays. Through standardizing care protocols, reducing unnecessary transfers, and avoiding delays in care due to lack of access, Equum Medical provides expert care with diagnostic testing and treatment options for patients. This approach enables emergency departments to improve patient outcomes, reduce wait times, and enhance the overall quality of care.

We are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality of hospital care available. After all, you are the reason we are here!
