In recognition of American Heart Month this February, McKenzie Health System is offering a series of opportunities designed to raise awareness, encourage prevention, and empower community members to take charge of their heart health.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States, making education and early detection more important than ever. As part of its Heart Health Month efforts, McKenzie Health System is offering cholesterol and glucose screenings to help individuals better understand their cardiovascular risk factors.

In addition to screenings, McKenzie Health System will host a special Lunch & Learn: Heart Health for Everyone, featuring Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Vipin Khetarpal. The event will focus on practical, easy-to-understand information about heart health, prevention, and everyday habits that support long-term cardiovascular wellness.

Dr. Khetarpal is an engaging speaker known for breaking down complex medical topics into meaningful, actionable guidance for patients and community members of all ages.

The Lunch & Learn will take place on Friday, February 13, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at McKenzie Health System Hospital Campus, with both in-person and virtual attendance options available. In-person seating is limited to 24 participants. Lunch will be available for those attending in person for $6, with an option to attend in person without lunch. Virtual participation is free, with registration required.

Registration is required for both virtual and in-person options. Visit www.McKenzieHealth.org/Heart to register online or call 810-648-6127.

Cholesterol and glucose screenings are available as part of Heart Health Month efforts. Additional details regarding screening availability and requirements can be obtained by calling 810-648-6127.

“Heart health affects every family in our community,” said Nina Barnett, Public Relations and Foundation Coordinator. “By offering screenings and educational opportunities locally, we hope to make prevention and awareness accessible for everyone.”

McKenzie Health System remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of the community through education, prevention, and high-quality care close to home.
