TITLE: Remote Referral Specialist
DEPARTMENT: HealthCare Practices
STATUS: Full Time – 36 hours per week
HOURS: Day shift. However, position may require evening and weekend hours. Hours
may be variable to meet office/patient needs. Location may be variable.
Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for prior authorizations and referrals within McKenzie Health System
Primary Care Healthcare Practices. This role will handle prior authorizations for testing and medications
with insurance companies. This role will also require exceptional organizational
skills, strong communication abilities, and proficiency with electronic
medical record (EMR) systems.

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education/Experience- High School Graduate or equivalency, required.
- Completion of a formal MA education program or equivalent required.
- Previous Medical Assistant clinical experience in Primary Care Healthcare Practices, or equivalent, required.
- Previous experience working with general public, required.
- Computer skills required.
- Previous experience with prior authorizations, referrals, insurance verification, scheduling, and front office duties desired.

Licensure/Certification
1. Certification as Medical Assistant, or equivalent, required within 3 months of hire.- Strong familiarity with prior authorizations and referrals
- Proficiency in using eclinical works is preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and excellent time management skills.
- Current BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Must have reliable internet connection.
- Must have a dedicated workspace that allows for security and focus.

- Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, providers, and other support personnel.
- Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested.
- Influences the direction of primary care practice by maintaining composure, excellence, and a positive perspective/attitude.
- Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to remain current with standards of practice and services in the provider practice setting.
- Ability to apply the principles of quality care and service in the Medical Assistant role, in the provider office setting.
- Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty, and positive attitude.
- Knowledge and ability to learn the safe use of various office equipment.
