In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, McKenzie Health System and Gladiators Wear Pink are teaming up to offer FREE 3D mammograms now through October 31 for those who are uninsured or underinsured. The promotion is designed to help women who may otherwise delay routine screening because of cost or lack of insurance coverage.
"Cost should not be the reason someone puts off an important screening," said Jay Smith, Director of Cardiopulmonary and Diagnostic Imaging at McKenzie Health System. "Through the end of October, we want to make it easier for women in our community to prioritize their breast health while giving them access to the same advanced technology and experienced team available to our patients year-round."
“The breast cancer mortality rate in Sanilac County is more than 19 deaths per 100,000 residents,” said Stacey Bennett of Gladiators Wear Pink. “Behind that statistic are families, friends, and neighbors whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. Early detection saves lives, and we’re proud to partner with McKenzie Health System to help ensure cost doesn't stand in the way of this important screening.”
Free Walk-In Day
McKenzie and Gladiators Wear Pink will also host a “Walk-In 3D Mammogram” Day on Monday, October 19, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eligible patients can stop in during that timeframe to get their mammogram. No appointment is necessary, and coffee and donuts will be provided for those waiting.
How to Schedule
To schedule an appointment, call 810-648-6110. Callers are encouraged to mention "Gladiator" to help identify the promotion, though it is not required to receive a free mammogram.
Advanced Technology and Accredited Care
3D mammography captures multiple images of the breast from different angles to create a more detailed view, which can help detect cancers earlier and reduce the need for follow-up imaging. McKenzie's breast imaging services also include ProFound AI® technology for enhanced detection, Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM), ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, and additional diagnostic imaging.
McKenzie's mammography services are accredited by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®), reflecting the health system's commitment to rigorous standards for image quality, equipment, personnel qualifications, and patient safety.
Early Detection Makes a Difference
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. The chance that any woman will die from breast cancer is about 1 in 43. Early detection makes a difference, and regular mammograms remain one of the most important tools in detecting breast cancer when it is most treatable.
