McKenzie Health System is continuing to expand healthcare services close to home with the addition of Prostate MRI exams. This new service gives providers another tool to evaluate prostate health and helps patients access advanced imaging without leaving the community.
The addition comes during Men's Health Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of preventive care and early detection. Many men put their health on the back burner while focusing on work, family, and other responsibilities. Regular checkups and recommended screenings can help identify concerns early, when they are often easier to treat.
A Prostate MRI is a non-invasive imaging exam that creates detailed pictures of the prostate gland. The exam can help providers learn more about elevated PSA levels, abnormal test results, or other prostate concerns. It may also help determine the next steps in a patient's care.
"At McKenzie, we are always looking for ways to bring more services to our community so patients can receive the care they need close to home," said Jay Smith, Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiopulmonary Services at McKenzie Health System. "The addition of Prostate MRI exams allows us to offer advanced imaging locally while helping providers make informed decisions about their patients' care."
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men. While not every prostate concern is cancer-related, paying attention to changes in your health and talking with your provider about recommended screenings can make a difference.
Prostate MRI exams are performed on McKenzie's GE Voyager MRI system, which features a wide-bore design to help patients feel more comfortable during their exam. The technology produces detailed images that can help providers better evaluate prostate health and plan treatment when needed.
As Men's Health Month continues, McKenzie Health System encourages men to take an active role in their health by scheduling routine checkups, discussing recommended screenings with their provider, and seeking medical attention when concerns arise.
