Providing high-quality care close to home means supporting patients not only clinically, but personally. For Carol Shoemaker and her family, their experience with McKenzie Health System’s Infusion Center reflects the compassion, comfort, and community-centered care that define McKenzie’s mission each day.
During Carol’s 39 days of infusion treatments, she and her loved ones quickly discovered that the Infusion Center offered more than just clinical expertise. From the moment they walked through the doors, they were greeted with warm smiles and genuine kindness from staff across the organization.
The McKenzie team worked to ensure Carol’s treatment days were as comfortable as possible. Staff members provided warm blankets, refreshments, and a welcoming environment that helped ease the stress often associated with extended medical treatments. Small gestures made a lasting difference, including a special accommodation that allowed Carol and her family to share Christmas dinner together in the hospital cafeteria during her course of care.
According to Carol’s daughter, Penny, what stood out most was the personal attention they received throughout their time at McKenzie. “We weren’t treated as a number or a quota to be filled,” she shared. Instead, the family felt known, welcomed, and truly cared for by the staff who supported them each day.
Their positive experience has already been shared with friends and members of the community, serving as a reminder of the value of receiving high-quality care close to home. For Carol and her family, the journey to recovery was made easier by a healthcare team dedicated not only to treatment, but to kindness, comfort, and connection.
McKenzie Health System is proud to provide infusion services locally, ensuring patients can receive the care they need in a supportive, community-centered environment surrounded by familiar faces and compassionate professionals.
