McKenzie Health System Renames After-Hours Clinic to McKenzie Walk-In Clinic

McKenzie Health System is introducing a new name for one of its most familiar services. The clinic many residents have long known as the McKenzie After-Hours Clinic will now be called the McKenzie Walk-In Clinic, a name that better reflects how patients use the service today.

While the name is changing, the care patients rely on remains exactly the same.

The McKenzie Walk-In Clinic continues to offer convenient care for unexpected illnesses, minor injuries, and a variety of physicals — all provided by trusted local providers backed by the strength and resources of McKenzie Health System.

“Many people in our community already refer to the clinic as the walk-in clinic,” said Billi Jo Hennika, Chief Operating Officer at McKenzie Health System. “This change simply aligns the name with what patients are already saying and helps make it clearer for those who may be searching for walk-in care.”

The clinic originally opened as the McKenzie After-Hours Clinic, designed to provide care for patients outside of traditional office hours. Over time, services expanded in response to community needs, and many residents began referring to it simply as the walk-in clinic. The new name reflects how the clinic is used and recognized in the community today.

The McKenzie Walk-In Clinic remains a convenient option for care when patients need to be seen quickly but do not require emergency services. Conditions commonly treated include illnesses such as colds, flu, and infections, as well as minor injuries, sprains, and other non-life-threatening concerns. The clinic also offers sports physicals, DOT physicals, and pre-employment physicals.

The McKenzie Walk-In Clinic is located at 120 Delaware Street in Sandusky and is open seven days a week:

Patients may walk in without an appointment, or they may choose to schedule ahead online for added convenience.

“When something unexpected happens, it helps to know there is a place close to home where you can be seen quickly,” Hennika added. “This name better reflects the access our community has come to expect from this clinic.”
