McKenzie Offering Free Sports Physicals Now Through August

To support families and students, McKenzie Health System is offering FREE sports physicals for all local students through the end of August. Even though sports physicals are not being required by schools this fall, McKenzie is encouraging students to get their annual wellness visit or a sports physical before participating in activities that will put an extra strain on them physically.

“Recognizing how challenging this year has been for many families, we want to offer a no-cost physical option for students,” said Debbie Ruggles, Director of Healthcare Practices at McKenzie Health System. “We greatly value our young people and their health, which is why we will take care of the cost of the physical if it is not covered by insurance.”

Annual wellness visits are more thorough than sports physicals and are covered by insurance. They include immunizations, nutrition and health, lab work, and preventative care. Children and teen students who don’t have insurance or aren’t due for an annual wellness visit can take advantage of FREE sports physicals through the end of August. Typically, sports physicals are required for student-athletes to ensure they are healthy enough to participate in extracurricular activities.

Annual wellness visits or FREE sports physicals can be scheduled by contacting a McKenzie family healthcare clinic or calling central scheduling at 810-648-0610. A complete list of family healthcare providers and clinics is also available at www.McKenzieHealth.org.
