“Pinking” up the pace to support local women, McKenzie Health System is hosting its second annual 5K to benefit the McKenzie Health System Women’s Health and Wellness Fund. Pink Up The Pace, to be held at 9:30 a.m. on October 1, is being sponsored by Graff Chevrolet Buick, Sandusky.
While the event encourages fun costumes and provides a morning of exercise and enjoyment, the main goal is to support women who need testing and other services but can’t afford them. Pink Up The Pace 5K starts at Graff and proceeds to Woodland Hills Golf Course, where most of the event takes place. Several stations along the way will be throwing chalk in different shades of pink while the final station will shower runners and walkers in glitter.
“You can run, you can walk, you can stroll and you can skip to support local women in need of important healthcare services,” said Nina Barnett, Public Relations Coordinator, McKenzie Health System. “At McKenzie Health System, we can’t wait to ‘pink’ up the pace in this fun race for health and wellness.”
Adults ($25), youth ages 6-12 ($10) and kids under five (free) can register at www.mckenziehealth.org or by visiting Graff Chevrolet Buick at 495 Sanilac Road. Strollers are welcome, although a significant portion of the course will be held on the grass.
Questions about the race and registration can be addressed to Nina Barnett at McKenzie Health System at 810-648-6127.
