Speech Language Pathologist (ROC)

Department: Rehab Services

Status: Relief-on-call

Hours: Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. May require weekend or evening hours. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

Job summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech, language and dysphagia services to patients. The Speech Language Pathologist provides a full range of Speech therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and interventions in a manner consistent with qualifications and standards of practice.

Qualifications/Position Requirements:

  1. Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  2. Graduate of a Master’s or Doctoral Program
  3. Demonstrates the ability to establish good working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families and other support personnel.
  4. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees.
  5. Influences the direction of Speech Language Services by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude.
  6. Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful situation while maintaining composure and excellence in the delivery of therapy services.
  7. Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to keep current with Speech Therapy care duties.
  8. Ability to apply the principals of quality speech therapy care and prepare patient programs.
  9. Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty and positive attitude.
  10. Ability to delegate appropriate tasks to support staff.

Licensure/Certification
Current State of Michigan Speech Language Pathologist.
Current BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
