McKenzie Health System is pleased to welcome Family Nurse Practitioner Brandy Trepkowski to present “Breast Cancer Awareness” at the October Lunch and Learn Workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, October 19, 2016, from Noon to 1 p.m., in the McKenzie Health System Dining Room. Lunch and Learn is a community education series held every third Wednesday of the month. The cost for the workshops is $5, and lunch is included in the price. Pre-registration is required by calling Nina Barnett, McKenzie Health System, at 810-648-6127.

“According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women and roughly 12% of US women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime,” reports Louise Blasius, LMSW, LPC, Director of Community and Human Services at McKenzie Health System.  “In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, at this month’s Lunch and Learn Workshop, Brandy Trepkowski, FNP-BC, will be educating the audience about breast cancer and highlighting ways to help prevent it.”

“We all have heard the phrase ‘Prevention is the best policy’, but do we really know what that means when it comes to breast cancer?” asks Blasius. “This workshop will provide valuable, useful information on how we can live in a way that will help to prevent cancer and maintain health, resulting in a more enjoyable and fulfilling life!”

The workshop will be presented in a relaxed, personal atmosphere, and questions will be welcomed.  “In addition,” Blasius reports, “attendees will have a delicious and healthy meal.  What a great way to spend a lunchtime!”  Pre-registrations are required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127.
