Fitness Classes from McKenzie Health System Offer Healthy Options for Starting New Year on Right Foot

Supporting community health and wellness throughout the new year, McKenzie Health System is again offering a variety of fitness classes at various community locations. Throughout the year different classes are offered including Aqua Aerobics, A Matter of Balance, Senior Exercise and Tai Chi.

“Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your overall health, so we are pleased to offer a variety of convenient classes to get you moving and enhance your wellness,” said Nina Barnett, Public Relations and Foundation Coordinator, McKenzie Health System. “Whether you come daily or weekly, we have some great options for those who are interested in increasing their fitness level in 2022!”

Classes offered by McKenzie Health System in 2022 include:

  • Aqua Aerobics: McKenzie Health and Wellness Center, 170 W. Argyle in Sandusky. Six sessions run from January through December with options including Early Birds at 5:45 and 7 a.m.; Arthritis-Friendly at 8:15 a.m.; Deep Water Warriors at 9:45 a.m.; Aqua Athletics at 11:15 a.m.; Water Walkers at 12:45 p.m.; Run Jump Splash at 2:15 p.m.; Evening Energizers at 5 p.m. and Bump Set Spike at 6:30 p.m. Aqua aerobics classes can be attended one to five times per week.
  • Senior Exercise: Jan. 3-March 25 and Sept 12-Dec. 2; T/Th at 9 a.m. at Countryside Free Methodist Church; M/W at 9 a.m. at Lexington United Methodist Church. $20 donation
  • Tai Chi: Five sessions from March to December. Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Countryside Free Methodist Church; Mondays at 10 a.m. at Bark Shanty in Port Sanilac; Mondays at 3:30 at Lexington United Methodist Church. Free for ages 60 and over; $4.50/class for those under 60.
  • A Matter of Balance: May 2-June 24 and Aug. 1-Sept. 23, day TBD, 1-3 p.m. Countryside Free Methodist Church. Free for ages 60 and over.

The staff at McKenzie Health System is continually evaluating CDC guidelines and recommendations along with local transmission rates. This information may impact the posted schedule of classes. If community members have not already been vaccinated, they are encouraged to do so and masking is required in classes regardless of vaccination status.
