The Board of Directors of McKenzie Health System appointed Steve Barnett as the Hospital’s President and CEO in May, 2008. Barnett was no stranger to the thumb area, having served for more than 6 years as the President and CEO of Harbor Beach Community Hospital, where he made significant, long-lasting improvements. Barnett has decades of health care experience in various settings ranging from large multi-hospital academic settings to the small rural critical access hospital environment. His education includes an associate’s degree in respiratory care, a bachelor’s in nursing, a master’s degree in anesthesia, and a doctorate in healthcare administration.

Under Barnett’s leadership, McKenzie Health System has expanded its offerings in Family and Surgical Medicine and has led the way in working collaboratively with other healthcare providers in the thumb.
