“Project Healthy Living” Health Fair Cancelled

Sandusky, Mich. – McKenzie Health System (MHS) has participated in Project Healthy Living for more than 25 years but due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be able to participate this spring.  Project Healthy Living, a statewide initiative administered by United Health Organization, lost its grant funding this year. Because of the late notification, MHS will not hold the local event which took place in late April and provided free and low-cost tests and screenings.

“Our priority remains the same, helping our community members stay healthy,” said Steve Barnett, President and CEO of MHS. “As we continue to explore different ways of caring for the health of our community, we encourage individuals to continue with regular screenings, preventive testing and checkups, many of which are now covered through health insurance.”

Tests for blood pressure, cholesterol, vision screening, skin cancer, mammogram, prostate specific antigen (PSA), blood oxygen levels, 26-profile blood panel and c-reactive protein are all to be considered as part of regular health screenings.

“Our hospital and family healthcare clinics can help patients manage health through screenings and programs developed to promote prevention of many illnesses and recovery in areas where treatment is needed,” continued Barnett.

To schedule screenings or testing at MHS, or to help find an MHS physician who can serve as a main health advocate, call 810-648-6161.
