MHS Announces Contest Winners

Sandusky, Mich. – Honoring several individuals who were good to their hearts in recognition of American Heart Month, McKenzie Health System recently announced the winners of its special LIVE SMART: Be Good to Your Heart! contests. As part of the promotion, McKenzie Health System sold t-shirts and Red Dress pins, with all proceeds going to the Women’s Health and Wellness Fund, and hosted a Facebook contest and “register to win” contests at their family healthcare clinics and outpatient department.

With a prize of Fitbit activity trackers, the winners’ drawing took place March 2. The community winners were Wendy Williams of Port Sanilac, Jaymi Frizzle of Applegate and Cynthia Marks of Croswell. Employees also got in the action through Exercise & Enter and Biggest Loser contests where prizes included Fitbits, gym memberships and a community wellness session. The winners of the Exercise & Enter drawing were: Sue Abrego (Fitbit), Becky Cambridge (Fitness Edge Gym membership) and Sharon Schmalz (community wellness session). In the Biggest Loser contest, Laurie Turnbull won a Fitbit and Carrie Krampits received a Fitness Edge Gym membership.

In addition, t-shirt and pin sales through the McKenzie Gift Shop and Public Relations Desk netted $695 for the Women’s Health and Wellness Fund.

“We were very appreciative to have Fitness Edge Gym in Sandusky participate in our contests by offering ‘free Wednesday’s’ at their gym and donating the gym memberships as prizes. McKenzie looks forward to continuing to engage other area businesses and community members in promoting health and wellness,” shared Nina Barnett, Public Relations Coordinator at McKenzie Health System.

“Living smart isn’t just about one month or one campaign. It’s about a lifestyle that encourages communities across the country to focus on health and wellness and quality of life,” said Billi Jo Hennika, Vice President of Operations, McKenzie Health System. “We were thrilled to create enthusiasm for American Heart Month and to engage these community members and employees in living smart for their heart.”
