McKenzie Presents Award-Winning Program for Seniors

A Matter of Balance PhotoSandusky, Mich. – Do you have concerns about falling?  Many older adults experience concerns about falling and, as a result, they restrict their activities. McKenzie Health System is presenting A MATTER OF BALANCE, MANAGING CONCERNS ABOUT FALLS, an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels of senior citizens.  This 8 week program, running from September 15 through November 3, will take place on Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at East Side Manor in Sandusky; and it’s FREE for people 60 and up.  For more information, call Nina Barnett at McKenzie Health System at 810-648-6127.

“A MATTER OF BALANCE emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls,” explains Louise Blasius, class co-instructor.  “Attendees will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and learn exercises to increase strength and balance.”

“This class is important for anyone concerned about falls; anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength; anyone who has fallen in the past; and anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns,” reports Sandra Martin, class co-instructor.
