Healthy Lifestyle Workshop helps You Learn ”The Basics of a Vegetarian Diet”

Biessel CharleneHave you ever been curious about a vegetarian lifestyle?  Are you wondering if vegetarianism has to be “all or nothing” or if it can be modified to include some cheese and dairy products?  Have you ever wanted to taste vegetarian dishes?   If so, the February 23, 2015 Healthy Lifestyle Workshop is for you!   It will be held at 5:30 p.m., in the McKenzie Health System Dining Room, 120 N.  Delaware St., Sandusky.   The topic will be The Basics of a Vegetarian Diet.

In addition to tasting small portions of vegetarian dishes, all attendees will take recipes home and have a chance to win a door prize.  Due to the popularity of the workshops, pre-registration is required by calling Nina Barnett at McKenzie Health System, 810-648-6127.

“Contrary to popular belief, being a vegetarian doesn’t have to mean avoiding all eggs or dairy products in your diet,” reports Charlene Biessel, RD, McKenzie Health System, workshop presenter.  “There are many degrees of vegetarianism, and I’ll be explaining several of them at the workshop.  I’ll also be discussing some of the reasons people choose vegetarianism, and I’ll be giving audience members ideas about how to modify a regular diet to include more fruits and vegetables, since that may be one of the healthiest eating habits people can adopt!”

“Please join us for this free, fun, and informative class,” invites Louise Blasius, Chairperson of the Healthy Lifestyle Project and McKenzie Health System Social Worker. “This is one in a series of 11 free workshops that we are holding in 2015, in partnership with MSU Extension and the Sanilac County Health Department.  Topics throughout the year cover a variety of healthy living topics.”
