Nutritional Food Service Aide (ROC)

Department: Nutrition/Food Services

Hours: Relief On Call

Qualifications/Position Requirements/Personal Skills/Work Environment:

  1. High School graduate or equivalent, preferred.
  2. Previous food service experience in a health care setting preferred
  3. Ability to communicate fully in the English language
  4. Training in food management, diet therapy preferred
  5. Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians and other support personnel
  6. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested
  7. Ability to follow a series of instructions accurately
  8. Ability to operate or learn to operate various kitchen equipment and cash register
  9. Simple math concepts to include counting and measuring/weighing portions.
  10. Maintains a positive perspective/attitude
  11. Subject to variances in temperature (refrigeration units, heat from stoves and ovens)
  12. Exposure to dishwasher chemicals and nutrition/food service appliance cleaners.
  13. Some exposure to clinically infectious disease during indirect contacts in patient units.

Role/Position Defintion

Under the supervision of the Nutrition/Food Director, performs a variety of duties such as preparing hot and cold food for patients, families, staff meals and special events; cleaning; storage of food, supplies and equipment.
