Status: Full Time (32 hours per week)

Hours: Position’s require evening and rotating weekend and holiday hours. Hours may be variable to meet office/patient needs. Location may be variable. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands.


  1. High School Graduate or equivalency, required.
  2. Completion of a formal MA education program or equivalent required.
  3. Previous Medical Assistant clinical experience in a Primary Care Physician office, or equivalent, required.
  4. Department of Transportation (DOT) certification required within three months of hire
  5. 1-year previous experience performing receptionist duties, preferred.
  6. Previous experience working with the general public, required.
  7. Computer skills required.
  8. Previous experience in coding, insurance verification, desired.
  9. Certification as Medical Assistant, or equivalent, required within 3 months of hire.
  10. Current BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
  11. Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, providers, and other support personnel.
  12. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested.
  13. Influences the direction of the Healthcare Office practice by maintaining composure, excellence and a positive perspective/attitude.
  14. Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to remain current with standards of practice and services in the Healthcare office setting.
  15. Ability to apply the principles of quality care and service in the Medical Assistant role, in the Healthcare office setting.
  16. Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty, and positive attitude.
  17. Knowledge and ability to learn the safe use of various office equipment.

Telehealth Medical Assistant Responsibilities

  1. Providing patient education, patient support, and patient care in the healthcare office and /or via a telehealth platform as an extension of the Healthcare practice.
  2. Serves as a liaison and coordinates information between providers, other clinical staff, and patients.
  3. Coordinates the ongoing delivery and management of patient-centered comprehensive care plans.
  4. Completes and initiates appropriate clinical reminders, consults, and alerts.
  5. Documents all clinical observations, information, updates, and patient education
  6. Schedules, confirms, and coordinates non-face to face patient encounters
  7. Utilizes EHR to document all clinical observations, information, updates, and patient education
  8. Schedules, confirms, and coordinates non face to face patient encounters and demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
  9. Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision.
  10. Self-starter, reliable and dependable.
  11. Knowledge of computers software applications as well as web-based clinical applications
  12. Possesses knowledge of and complies with proper handling and cleaning of reusable medical equipment.
  13. Maintains patient confidentiality (electronic, written and/or verbal).
  14. Other tasks as assigned

Role/Position Definition:

The afterhour’s clinic will be open seven days a week, including holidays, consisting of weekday afternoon shifts and weekend day shifts. This role will be a combination of telehealth and traditional clinic setting. During telehealth clinic the Medical Assistant will function as a Telehealth Facilitator serving in a generalist role to support and manage clinical encounters from the patient and provider location as the site tele-presenter. You will use state of the art telemedicine technologies to bring providers and patients together, you will manage real time telehealth appointments between patients and providers, coordinate patient education activities, handle technical and scheduling activities and other program support duties as assigned at the facility. Also responsible for the direct care of patients presenting themselves in an office/ambulatory setting. Cooperates with all members of the health team to meet total patient needs.
