POSITION POSTING: Nutritional Food Service Aide
DEPARTMENT: Nutrition/Food Services
STATUS: Relief On Call
HOURS: Variable day and afternoon shifts may be required to provide department staffing. Requires working weekends and holidays on a rotational basis. Low Census may be required to support workload demand.
QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS/PERSONAL SKILLS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- High School graduate or equivalent, preferred.
- Previous food service experience in a health care setting preferred
- Ability to communicate fully in the English language
- Training in food management, diet therapy preferred
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians and other support personnel
- Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested
- Ability to follow a series of instructions accurately
- Ability to operate or learn to operate various kitchen equipment and cash register
- Simple math concepts to include counting and measuring/weighing portions.
- Maintains a positive perspective/attitude
- Subject to variances in temperature (refrigeration units, heat from stoves and ovens)
- Exposure to dishwasher chemicals and nutrition/food service appliance cleaners.
- Some exposure to clinically infectious disease during indirect contacts in patient units.
ROLE/POSITION DEFINITION:
Under the supervision of the Nutrition/Food Director, performs a variety of duties such as preparing hot and cold food for patients, families, staff meals and special events; cleaning; storage of food, supplies and equipment.
