Learn about Tai Chi, Water Aerobics and Fitness for Life at the November Healthy Lifestyle

“We hope people will join us on Monday, November 27, at 5:30 p.m., in the Dining Room of McKenzie Health System, 120 Delaware St., for the last Healthy Lifestyle Workshop of 2017!” invites Louise Blasius, LMSW, LPC, Director of Human Services at McKenzie Health System, and Healthy Lifestyle Committee Chairperson.  “Tai Chi, Water Aerobics and Fitness for Life” will be our topic, presented by Sandra Martin, RN, Wendy McBride and Nina Barnett, all of McKenzie Health System.  Space is limited, so pre-registration is required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127 or emailing nbarnett@mckenziehealth.org.

“In this new workshop event, Sandra Martin, RN, will be demonstrating Tai Chi for 20 minutes and Wendy McBride will be highlighting the benefits of Water Aerobics,” reports Blasius.  “We’re focusing on Tai Chi because it’s a gentle form of exercise and stretching that can be used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions.  Mayo.com describes Tai Chi as ‘meditation in motion that promotes serenity through smooth, flowing movements’.  Water aerobics is similar because it is easy on the joints and body, but it also conditions major muscle groups and works the heart and lungs.  Both Tai Chi and Water Aerobics can benefit nearly everyone, regardless of age.”

“We invite the community to come and learn about these healthy, gentle forms of exercise at our FREE Healthy Lifestyle Workshop on Monday, November 27, at McKenzie Health System.” states Blasius. “This class will complete our 2017 Healthy Lifestyle series.  Information regarding the 2018 series will be available at the session.”
