Dietary & Nutrition

A patient's nutritional status is a top priority at McKenzie Health System. Providing a nourishing, well-balanced, properly controlled diet takes great skill and planning. The McKenzie Health System Nutrition Services team is delighted to work with you and your physician to create a meal plan tailored to your individual needs. We will help you to understand how proper nutrition can positively effect your health, and will provide you with the information and tools you need to eat well for life.
As a patient, you benefit by working with our registered dietitian to develop a personalized nutrition plan. The goal is to improve physical conditions through an appropriate and comprehensive eating plan. Our Nutrition Services team conducts complete nutritional assessments for inpatients, to identify goals for improving nutritional intake and health. An individualized plan is developed in cooperation with the physician to meet each patient’s specific medical and lifestyle needs; and education is provided as needed.
Along with meal planning, the Nutrition Services department supplies nutritional care for our patients by providing diet counseling. The hospital dietitian provides such counseling in a private, confidential setting during hospitalization or in the outpatient setting.
The dietitian and diabetic educator at McKenzie are involved in many community programs. A variety of nutrition-related education programs, as well as a diabetic support group, are offered through McKenzie Health System.
